Genfarma and FPT Go Live with SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud in Just Two Months of Implementation
Genfarma and FPT officially go live with the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud enterprise management system after two months of implementation

Recently, Genfarma Joint Stock Company – a newly established biopharmaceutical enterprise in Vietnam – together with FPT Corporation, officially went live with the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud enterprise management system after only two months of implementation. The successful go-live within such a short timeframe is considered a remarkable milestone, especially as the project simultaneously had to meet stringent requirements related to compliance, data traceability, and validation documentation standardization in the high-tech pharmaceutical industry.

The project marks an important step forward in Genfarma’s journey toward building a modern management platform aligned with international standards, aiming for a transparent operating model, centralized data management, and compliance with the rigorous requirements of the high-tech pharmaceutical sector.

Implemented from March 16, 2026, the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud system, consulted and deployed by FPT, includes core modules covering finance & accounting, procurement, and supply chain management. Beyond standardizing operational processes in real time, the new platform also enables end-to-end control from finance to warehousing, gradually establishing the “digital backbone” for Genfarma’s management and manufacturing expansion in its next phase of development.

The platform also strengthens data control and data integrity across procurement, warehousing, and finance & accounting processes — factors that are particularly critical in the operating environment of high-tech pharmaceutical, vaccine, and biopharmaceutical companies.

A distinctive aspect of the project lies in its ability to simultaneously meet multiple stringent standards of the high-tech pharmaceutical industry, including GMP-WHO, GSP, and GLP, while supporting batch-level traceability management, FEFO (First Expired First Out) expiry-date control, and enhanced data control throughout the entire operational process.

The system enables control of raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished goods by production batch/lot, while automatically applying the FEFO principle to prioritize inventory issuance based on the nearest expiry date — a particularly critical requirement for vaccines, biopharmaceuticals, and high-tech pharmaceutical products. These are core requirements to ensure traceability, quality control, inventory optimization, and compliance with international standards throughout pharmaceutical research, manufacturing, and distribution processes.

In addition, the system has also been designed to support audit trail requirements and end-to-end data traceability — key criteria within internationally standardized pharmaceutical operating environments.
To ensure project timeline and quality, FPT closely collaborated with Genfarma in developing templates, document structures, and completing the Computer System Validation (CSV) documentation package in compliance with pharmaceutical industry standards prior to system validation.

CSV is considered an essential requirement in internationally standardized pharmaceutical manufacturing environments to ensure IT systems meet requirements for accuracy, data traceability, consistency, and operational reliability. This also represents one of the key differences between conventional ERP projects and management systems designed for the high-tech pharmaceutical industry.

At the same time, both project teams continuously coordinated on training, system practice, and operational process standardization to ensure stable system operations from the official go-live date.

In the context of Vietnam’s pharmaceutical market being projected to reach USD 14.6 billion by the end of 2026, biopharmaceutical and high-tech pharmaceutical enterprises are facing increasing demands for management capabilities, data control, and compliance with international manufacturing and operational standards. These also serve as essential foundations for enterprises to enhance competitiveness, expand international partnerships, and gradually participate more deeply in the global pharmaceutical value chain.

Established amid Vietnam’s efforts to promote the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, Genfarma positions itself as a company specializing in the research, development, and manufacturing of biopharmaceutical and high-tech pharmaceutical products. With its manufacturing facility located in Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park (Hanoi), Genfarma is regarded as a “new wave” in Vietnam’s pharmaceutical market, aiming to master advanced biotechnology platforms, develop an integrated R&D – manufacturing – commercialization ecosystem for high-tech pharmaceuticals, and contribute to strengthening national pharmaceutical self-sufficiency.

One of Genfarma’s notable milestones is its pharmaceutical technology transfer collaboration project, which opens opportunities to access advanced biotechnology platforms, particularly in oncology therapeutics and biomedical products. Simultaneous investment in technological capabilities and management infrastructure is considered a key preparation step for Genfarma to progressively realize its long-term development strategy in the high-tech pharmaceutical sector.

Mr. Bui Le Khoa, Chief Executive Officer of Genfarma, expects the system to establish a solid foundation for Genfarma’s long-term growth in the digital era

Mr. Bui Le Khoa, Chief Executive Officer of Genfarma, shared: “The implementation and go-live of the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud system represents an important step in Genfarma’s strategy to build a modern management platform standardized according to international best practices. Although still in the early stages of research and manufacturing, Genfarma has already had to manage significant volumes of data, operational requirements, and control demands typical of a high-tech pharmaceutical enterprise.

Therefore, the successful implementation and operation of the project within only two months, while simultaneously meeting multiple specialized requirements related to compliance, data traceability, and validation, is a highly commendable achievement resulting from the determination and close collaboration of both project teams. We expect the system to establish a solid foundation for Genfarma to enhance operational capabilities and achieve sustainable long-term growth in the coming years.”

Mr. Dinh Tien Hoang – Senior Executive Vice President and Deputy CEO of FPT Corporate Business Sector, stated that FPT is ready to continue accompanying Genfarma on its future development journey

Representing FPT, Mr. Dinh Tien Hoang – Senior Executive Vice President and Deputy CEO of FPT Corporate Business Sector, stated: “The Genfarma project is one of the SAP Cloud projects implemented within a very short timeline while still having to meet numerous specialized requirements of the high-tech pharmaceutical sector regarding compliance, data control, traceability, and operations aligned with international standards.

The success of this project further reinforces FPT’s SAP ERP consulting and implementation capabilities, as well as our ability to accompany enterprises in digital transformation projects with demanding requirements related to timeline, quality, and compliance within regulated industries. We believe that the management platform established today will become an important stepping stone for Genfarma’s future growth journey, and FPT remains committed to continuing our partnership with the company in system operation, optimization, and future expansion.”
